Our new light home mats can be rolled up to just 5-feet tall for easy storage and transport, weighing in at ~20 lbs and easily secured with straps (each mat includes two adjustable straps). These mats measure 1-3/16" thick. For reference, other home mats are often 1-1/4" thick, however since most grapplers want home mats for groundwork and drilling rather than all-out wrestling wars with forceful takedowns, we're offering a slightly lighter version at a more affordable price. 

Introducing our Komodo Smooth texture option, which offers more footing than the classic Smooth texture, without quite as much friction (a.k.a. mat burn) as Tatami.

Generally, surface/texture is personal preference, so it's up to you; whether you prefer a slicker surface with less friction and less mat burn, or stronger footing and more likelihood of mat burns, etc.
